Chico, CA – After several requests for debates, the head-to-head candidate meeting schedule has finally been announced for the CA-1 congressional race. Audrey Denney will be facing incumbent Doug LaMalfa in only two candidate forums, despite multiple invitations from groups in the district and the Denney campaign. The two candidate forums will be hosted by the League of Women Voters in both Shasta and Plumas county on September 16th and 17th respectively. LaMalfa has refused to accept any invitation to forums in Butte or Nevada county, the most populous areas in the district.
“We can’t wait to contrast Audrey's bold leadership and strong vision with that of Representative LaMalfa. However, we join with our constituents who are disappointed that LaMalfa has agreed to so few. We recently invited him directly to consider additional events in both Butte and Nevada counties and received no response,” said Denney campaign manager, Brian Solecki.
The Denney campaign is excited to be working with the League of Women Voters on the candidate forums. The LWV is a nonpartisan group who neither supports nor opposes candidates or political parties at any level of government. Instead, they work on vital issues of concern to members and the public.
“I look forward to standing on stage next to Rep. LaMalfa and showing the members of our community the kind of leader I am and will be as their representative,” said Audrey Denney.
While the organizers currently have no plans to broadcast or record the forum, the Denney campaign will arrange to have a videographer on site and will share a recording of the event in its entirety online for the benefit of district residents who could not attend.
