The 1st District Congressional District extends to eight counties in northeast California, bordering Nevada and Oregon, and parts of three more. The 1st is one of the largest congressional districts.
“We have our work cut out for us,” she said.
While there are many issues impacting residents in the 1st district, Denney said four are the priority and serve as a platform for her campaign.
Denney said healthcare, access to it and affordability for residents, sits atop the priority list.
Second is education. Denney said she would like to see more opportunities for higher education, including technical education, for residents in the 1st congressional district.
Access to better education can mean better jobs, she said.
Denney said agriculture is a big part of the economy in the district. She said she would like to regulations for the agriculture sector that make sense.
Lastly, Denney said she would like infrastructure to improve. Those improvements should include roads, internet access, and infrastructure for water.
“These are priorities,” she said,
Denney said she wants to be an elected official who works for those who live in her district.
“I am an authentic leader who cares about them, who will work them,” she said.
From her time in Visalia, Denny said she loves Taylor Hotdogs and visiting the downtown area. Of course, St. Paul’s School is also a place with many fond memories.
“It's a close-knit community,” she said.
